Candy Castle Cotton Candy Dream Dress

The Cotton Candy Dream Dress from Candy Castle Patterns is such a darling little dress! It features two amazing options: an everyday play dress and a special occasion dress with tulle.

I made the everyday play dress in quilting cotton and honestly, I think it's beautiful and not at all just-an-everyday-dress. It's pretty enough to be a party dress!

This is quilting cotton from handmade fabrics and I used black bias that was slightly shiny for the straps and also the hem for that pretty bordered effect.

I just love the back of the dress. It's perfect for summer!

The sweetheart neckline is really pretty too!

Maybe one day I will try the tulle version!

Candy Castle's Box of Chocolates Pattern

Here's yet another Yummy Candy Castle pattern for little ones - Box of Chocolates Crop top, shirt, dress and high-low tunic.

This pattern is chock full of options and perfect for the absolute beginner to knit patterns. She has thorough blending instructions - my go-to instructions for blending!

My first version of this pattern is a cute crop top made with remnants from my previous sew and it's perfect to pair with a poofy pettiskirt for an ultra sassy outfit complete with an adorable toddler belly 😍

Just look at that happy face. She can't help do a little twirl in her new outfit!
And for the little ones who prefer something sweet and demure, how about the simple yet twirltastic circle skirt version of Box of Chocolates dress? I made this version with an extra sparkly gold speckled cotton lycra and it's stylist comfort at its best =)

There's also the hi-low skirt which I have plans for once she is older - that one is absolutely beautiful especially on the other tester girls. U shld check it out at the link here.

IvL Angel Sleeved Dress

I had an opportunity to test for IvL- Hecho's angel sleeved top and dress tt they were updating to a bigger size range and i made our version in double gauze. Isn't it cute?

For a whimsical detail, i added a metal cat button at the back for my girl who loves all things "meoowwww". It's the only reason she's willing to try it on - apparently the dress is not colorful enough for her toddler aesthetics and sense of style 🤣

Thankfully, after trying it on, she claims it's soft and comfy and the dress has her approval to go into wardrobe rotation 🤣

I used a contrasting thread in the bobbin for a pop of color. Haven't decided if i liked it yet. What do u think?

I feel that the dress is, overall, loose and summery. If u feel like ur kid prefers it fitted, it may be good to make the knit version instead, or simply size down in width! For us, the loose fit is perfect for play and great for the summer heat where we stay.

I also like how the lace detail on the sleeves add a lovely touch to the dress. The instructions also suggested pompoms! I shld go find some cos the testers who used pom poms had really cute dresses and I'm guessing rainbow poms would be right up this little girl's alley!

She's pretty happy with her angel sleeves. Perhaps i would make a knit version for her once she outgrows this one!

S.U.A.T Titania and Pixie Tank and dress

It's time for another Stitch upon a time Pattern Showcase / Sale!

This time round, we have a wonderful summer staple - Titania Top and Tunic and Pixie top and dress!

It's SO SO cute!

I love the razor back. It feels so athletic! And I know what you are thinking - what about the bra? Well, this pattern comes with an inner built in bra! I made mine with it so I can skip the strapless bras which we all know isn't comfy nor that secure!

I made mine as a top length so that I can squeeze both my top and my girl's dress out of a yard of fabric. And I think I still have enough remnants for something else for her!

Here's my girl in her Pixie dress. She looks adorable if I may say so myself hehe. I love the flare of the dress and there's also a slightly less flared version.

The dress came together really quickly because there isn't any gathering. And the only band is the neckband. The armscye is done by hemming - set up your twin needles or coverstitch cos there's quite some hemming to do! hehe. But trust me, it's worth it!!

Simple Life Pattern Co Kinsley Cascading Flounce Dress

For Chinese New Year in 2021, I made a cheongsam inspired princessy brocade dress for my darling using a hacked SLPco pattern - Kinsley Cascading flounce dress.

It addressed all the common issues I have with traditional cheongsams for children - restricting high necks (most kids hate it) and too tight (cheongsams tend to be more figure hugging, but toddlers needs room!)

Kinsley was chosen cos it was loose fitting and i loved the silhouette!

I wrote a blog post about my hack in the SLPco blog here

The hack takes a bit of effort to do but the result is so satisfying! If you like the hack and would like to try it yourself, I'll be super happy to see your version!

If you have not bought the pattern and would like to use my aff link, it is here. (thank you! 😘😘😘)

Candy Castle Designs Funfetti Dress

It's almost Lunar New Year! For the Chinese, Lunar New Year marks the start of the new lunar calendar. There's lots of festivities, visiting, exchange of mandarin oranges between relatives and friends and red money packets for the children.

One tradition of the Lunar New Year (CNY) is the wearing of red outfits to symbolise good luck and fortune. Being able to sew means that my kids are getting mum made new year outfits this year even if we aren't going to visit many households due to Covid.

For my girl's first day outfit, I have chosen the Funfetti dress by Candy Castle Designs. This is a super cute dress pattern with loads of options. And since CNY is traditionally a very hot season in Singapore, I've decided to go for a sleeveless, dress length, circle skirt version of Funfetti.

To go with the theme, I chosen a beautiful Cotton lycra with Hello Kitty prints and red and yellow blooms then paired it with a bright red circle skirt. So cute!!

She had a beautiful red leather bag given to her by her grandma which is a perfect accessory for this dress AND it serves the important purpose of keeping her red money packets when she goes to her grandparents house to visit during the holiday!

We love Hello Kitty in this family so we even had matching hello kitty masks so that she can look pretty and be safe!

Funfetti was a very fast sew. I think cutting took longer than the actual sewing! There's definitely going to be more Funfettis in the future! Perhaps a gathered skirt version next time? Or a sleeved one? The options are plenty!

And now for more photos of the pretty dress!

Buttons and Bibs Coastal Crossover

Hi everyone! I made another twinning set! This time round, I made the Coastal Crossover from Buttons and Bibs!

My version is the V neck with faux lace (printed) CL and black modal handkerchief skirt in top length. Her version is black CL with the faux lace CL as a skirt in dress length. I didn't bother hemming mine and hers was rolled hemmed with a serger so both dresses were really fast to sew!

I really do love twinning with this cutie pie!

Here's some photos of how beautiful this dress looks worn!

We hope you liked our versions of the Buttons and Bibs Coastal Crossover!

Designs by Call Ajaire: Overlay dress

After I made this dress, i felt it needed a post all for itself cos I loved it so much!

I decided to start my Chinese New Year sewing early cos I knew my work schedule for next year is crazy. No procrastination here!

This watermelon double gauze fabric was bought some time ago just for CNY sewing but I haven't decided on a pattern when i got it. I bought from nekoneko.co a red watermelon and a yellow watermelon double gauze, intending for the kids to twin.

The boy (who is fussier) got to choose first and since he picked yellow, the red watermelon naturally goes to my girl.

I think she wears it well! This pattern is the Overlay dress by Designs by Call Ajaire. To be honest, I had my eyes set on another pattern of hers initially -- raglan party dress, but that one had no layers, no A0 and obviously no projector file as well. For a sewist spoilt by my projector, i just didn't wan to do the paperwork.. so i decided to give the overlay dress a go instead. And I am so glad I did! It's just about the perfect pattern for a cute watermelon dress!

She had so many compliments today about her pretty watermelon dress. I can't wait to make the yellow one into a twinning shirt for my boy.

Stay tuned!

Goober Pea Designs Sugar Pea

I bought this Ultraman knit for myself cos i love chibi Ultraman; not just any Ultraman - it has to be CHIBI Ultraman 😆 (It's a long story why... i don't even watch Ultraman shows)

But anyway, I made 1 tank top for me, another for my boy but was struggling to think of what to make for my little girl with this fabric. Then it struck me: Sugar Pea would be PERFECT for this!

Projector cutting meant that I can do a very decent pattern placement - LOOK! The biggest chibi ultraman is centred in the bodice! (cheap thrill i know =p) And it is so fast too. The projector files of Goober Pea Designs are very good. She takes feedback very seriously so her projector files have all the pattern pieces "opened" up with the fold line still clearly drawn so you can cut folded or opened - the option is yours!

This little one is still wearing baby sizes which has 3 tiered skirt options but I skipped that cos I wanted the skirt to be a plain black and red - look how pretty the contrast is! But imagine 3 tiers on a cute little baby 💓💓💓

The sizes on Sugar Pea goes from 0-3 months in baby sizes all the way to 14 youth. The bigger baby sizes and the smaller kid sizes actually coincide too. The difference? Baby sizes have shorter skirts which are better for crawling babies and baby sizes have 3 tiered skirts while the kid sizes have just 2 tiers.

The main fabric I chose for this dress is CL, the skirts are modal. Modal skirts have a great drape which makes modal a lovely choice for our Sugar Pea.
